6th Croatian-Slovenian symposium on rehabilitation medicine

Opatija 29/30th November 2019

This traditional joint meeting of two national PRM societies which gathered around one hundred PRM specialists and residents took place in the beautiful city of Opatija situated in the northern part of Adriatic sea. Our host was Thalassotherapia Opatija – Special hospital for medical rehabilitation of heart, lung and rheumatic diseases. While enjoying beautiful sunny weather and great hospitality of our hosts between lectures, Prof. Viktor Peršić and Prof. Tatjana Kehler also set up an interactive programme on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Friday afternoon session included few important and interesting lectures as follows: rehabilitation of cardiovascular patients (highlighting the importance of preventive programmes and activities), physical therapy in the era of biologic therapy, importance of exercise programmes in patients with inflammatory rheumatic disease and clinical challenges in patient with back pain. Saturday morning session included both Slovenian and Croatian speakers who presented variety of different topics from the area of neurorehabilitation (including neurodiagnostic procedures), diagnostic ultrasound of musculoskeletal system with several case reports, oncology rehabilitation, importance of orthotics in spinal rehabilitation and update on the spinal centre in rehabilitation institution Varaždinske Toplice. The official programme ended with speeches of Prof. Tonko Vlak, Klemen Grabljevec, MSc and Prof. Tatjana Kehler highlighting the importance of this type of regional meetings and being an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge in the rehabilitation science. In addition to that, an organized tour of Thallasotherapia Opatija and its facilities followed for all participant and our guides on that occasion were Prof. Tatjana Kehler, Tamara Kauzlarić Živković MD, Vedrana Mužić Radović, MD, PhD and Prof. Viktor Peršić.
